Training Description

Learn the facilitative mediation model that will give you the foundation needed to handle conflicts between neighbors, employers-employees, merchants-consumers, landlords-tenants, plus a variety of interpersonal conflicts.

  • Acquire the skills needed to become a professional facilitative mediator
  • Develop expertise in the interest-based approach
  • Participate in focused role playing from comprehensive case studies

This course meets the basic mediation training requirement for certification through the Washington Mediation Association.

By completing the classroom training, you qualify to apply for the DRC mentored practicum. Ask about an application.

Continuing Education Credits Available

  • 37.5 CLE credits for attorneys, 1.75 ethics and 35.75 law and legal procedure  (additional $125 payable to DRC upon registration)
  • 37.5 CEU credits for licensed social workers, mental health counselors and marriage and family therapists (additional $125 payable to DRC upon registration)
  • 37.5 clock hours for educators (additional $75 payable during class to Puget Sound ESD)

Cancellation & Refund Policy

The DRC gives a full refund or credit voucher for withdrawals up to five business days prior to the beginning of the training. There will be a $25 processing fee for refunds. For workshops where the fee is $25 or less, there will be no refunds. For withdrawals less than five business days before the training, credit vouchers of 50% will be issued to be used toward another workshop. No refund or credit voucher will be issued for cancellations made the day of the training or for anyone who, without notification, does not attend the training.
